Once again, the UPLB College of Agriculture (CA) graduates showed the way in the 2006 agriculturist licensure examination given by the Board of Agriculture in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga City. Although a non-CA graduate topped the test held last July 2007, eight (8) or 66.66% of the 12 occupants of the top 10 slots came from UPLBCA.

The successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places are Marco Rodel Jumalon Aragon of Leyte State University (VISCA)-Baybay, with a rating of 85%; Consuelo Amor Santiago Estrella (CA), 84.83%; Michael Abiada Torte (CA), 84.67%; Roberto Buendia Barba Jr. (Catanduanes State Colleges-Virac), 84.50%; Angelita Lacaran Acebes (CA), 84.33%; Gil Anila Beligan (CA), 84.33%; Ann Mylalulex Arestado Magnaye (CA), 84%; Aryan Villas Rasgo (CA), 83.83%; Adrian Seño Mausig (Marinduque State College-Torrijos),83.67%; Louie Joseph Arreza Pabro (CA), 83.50%; Ailene Atienza Corpuz (De La Salle - Araneta University Inc.), 83.33% and Leni Angeles Quiatchon (CA), 83.33%.

Out of the 129 CA graduates who took the examination, 127 (98.45%) had passed. This reaffirms that UPLB is still on top among the agricultural schools, colleges and universities in the country that participated in the board examination.

As mandated by RA 8435, all graduates from any school, college or university that is recognized by the government, with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or Agricultural Technology, must take the licensure examination.

Exempted from taking the test are those who passed the examination given by the Civil Service Commission in any field of specialization in agriculture and has served the agriculture industry for at least five years prior to the effectivity of the said law. Those who graduated with the degree of Doctor of Philosophy and has served the industry for at least two years before its effectivity are also not obliged to take the examination.
