UPLB takes pride in being part of history through designing and decorating the venue of President Benigno S. Aquino's inauguration on June 30. The landscaping team led by Dr. Fernando Sanchez, Jr., assistant to the vice chancellor for planning and development, prepped up the stage of the Quirino Grandstand.
Team UPLB is composed of personnel from the different offices under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development (OVCPD) headed by Dr. Ruben Tanqueco. According to Dr. Sanchez, the stage was decorated with yellow, white, and green plants and flowers, some of which were sourced from the University's collection. The design used red and Yellow Carribean, Corcuma Heliconias, Mokara orchids, Pinsaray, Boston ferns, and Variegated Spider Lilies. He also said that the UPLB Foundation, Inc. co-sponsored the project. The UPLB landscape team was officially part of P-noy's Presidential inauguration on June 15 and was chosen from among several landscape design teams. Dr. Sanchez narrated that Team UPLB was very much honored to have participated in the historical event. (JAA Oruga)
