UPLB will celebrate its 101st year through a convocation program at 1:30 PM on March 5 at the Maquiling Ballroom at the Student Union building to recognize outstanding personnel and programs. Aside from the convocation program, UPLB will mark the beginning of its second century by staging "Teginef/A Dream Play" on March 10-12 at the DL Umali Hall.

As has been the tradition, UPLB will recognize outstanding personnel and research and extension teams during the occasion. The awardees will be identified through a selection process conducted by committees formed for the purpose.

This year, the convocation will be graced by the Hon. Luis R. Villafuerte, representative of the 2nd District of Camarines Sur. Congressman Villafuerte is expected to lead in presenting the awards to the honorees.

"Teginef/A Dream Play" is the fifth and closing performance under the UPLB Centennial Cycle Performance Project. Earlier, the project staged concerts and musical performances to celebrate the University's centennial with the following themes: "The Seed," during the UPLB Centennial celebration in March 2009; "The Planting," in April 2009 as a tribute to UPLB's centennial graduates; "The Growth" and "The Harvest," in October 2009 in time for the 91st Loyalty Day and Alumni Homecoming. "Teginef/A Dream Play," which falls under the theme "The Replanting," is different from the first four presentations as it is a full blown theater production.

With the celebration of the 101st UPLB foundation day on March 6, the University will have concluded its Centennial year and will begin its second century. To mark this momentous occasion, the UPLB Special Centennial Performances Committee, in collaboration with the UPLB Thespian Circle, will stage "Teginef/A Dream Play" on March 10-12 at the DL Umali Auditorium. "Teginef/A Dream Play" is an adaptation by Prof. Emmanuel Dumlao of August Strindberg's "A Dream Play" and is directed by Prof. Dennis Gupa.

The proceeds of the production will be used as seed money for the UPLB Artists Endowment Fund. The Fund will support the future projects of the Tatak UPLB Artist Program to develop artists and benefit artistic groups within the University.

"Teginef/A Dream Play" has gathered many University-based artists and collaborated with various student organizations in order to come up with a unique and timely theatre production that would showcase the best homegrown talents of UPLB in theatre, dance, music, visual arts, and photography. (JM Bo)
