Retz Jossean C. Cornelia, a freshman BS Chemical Engineering student, is UPLB's lone oblation scholar this year. Cornelia received a certificate of excellence during recognition ceremonies for the 2009 oblation scholars of the University of the Philippines presided by President Emerlinda R. Roman on June 15 at the Executive House of the Diliman campus.

The oblation scholarship is awarded to the top 50 UPCAT qualifiers. Like other oblation scholars, Cornelia shall be entitled to free tuition and other fees except the student fund, book allowance per semester, a modest stipend and transportation allowance.

To continue enjoying the benefits of the scholarship, UP's oblation scholars must carry the normal load prescribed for their degree program and must pass all academic subjects enrolled in without any grade of Dropped, Incomplete, or 4.0. He/She must earn a weighted average of 2.0 every semester to continue enjoying the scholarship. (AP Dominguita)
