The campus has prepared itself for the coming school year. Aside from the usual banners to welcome students, UPLB has rehabilitated buildings and facilities that, according to Vice Chancellor for Planning and Development Ruben D. Tanqueco, were fast tracked to prepare classrooms, laboratories, and dormitories for the opening of classes.

Most of the infrastructure projects entailed modernization of buildings and laboratory facilities. On the completed projects' list are buildings and facilities of the following: College of Development Communication (P1.25 M), College of Veterinary Medicine (P1.0 M), College of Economics and Management (P1.0 M), Graduate School (P1.0 M), School of Environmental Science and Management (P1.05 M), BIOTECH (P1.33 M), the extension of the Unit Operations Laboratory (for advanced thermodynamics and control processes laboratories), and the Chemical Engineering compound of the College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology (P 2.6 M).

This year, UPLB students will see more completed infrastructure projects at the following units: College of Agriculture (P3.34 M, currently 97% completed), College of Arts and Sciences (P10.29 M, 92% completed), College of Public Affairs (P1.84 M, 98% completed), College of Human Ecology (P1.67 M, partially completed), and College of Arts and Sciences fourth floor-Wing C (P7.80 M, 92.18% completed).

UPLB is also modernizing some buildings of the Crop Protection Cluster and the Institute of Biological Sciences (P8.0 M, 75% completed), Institute of Plant Breeding (P11.0 M, 50% completed), and the College of Forestry and Natural Resources (P3.0 M, 61% completed).

Students will soon have better facilities with the on-going rehabilitation of dormitories and the Student Union building worth P10 M, currently at 78 percent completion.

Furthermore, the OVCPD has completed plans for the construction of two new dormitory buildings that can accommodate 192 students each. These will be located at the New Dormitory area. Construction of the new dormitories will start early next year.

UPLB is also continuing the construction of the UPLB Gymnasium located near the CA-CVM complex. The gym will house the sports facilities of the campus while Baker Hall will be converted into a museum complex. (JAA Oruga)
