The University of Idaho Department of Plant, Soil and Entomological Sciences (PSES), has diverse teaching and research programs that span the disciplines of entomology, plant pathology, plant science, and soil science. The Microbial Physiology program at PSES is run by Aurelio "Rocky" M. Briones, a graduate of UPLB. Research interests in the Briones lab lie in the study of the roles, interactions and management of microbes in agricultural and engineered systems. These include soil; animal waste management systems (e.g., manure, anaerobic digesters, lagoons, compost); aquaculture systems (e.g., biofilters and bioflocs); animal guts; and the plant rhizosphere. The Briones Lab is currently accepting applicants for Graduate Student Research Assistantships. If you have interest and enthusiasm for learning and discovering what microbes do in these environments, and applying this knowledge to enhance the sustainability of agricultural and waste management practices, please send your inquiries to Mr.Brionesat
