The department will design and test innovative techniques and approaches in using radio and television as an educational medium, such as participatory broadcasting and interactive radio/TV.

Overview

Development broadcasting and telecommunication involves the use of radio, television and telecommunication for non-formal education purposes primarily to support planned social change in a developing country.

CDC is one of CHED's Centers of Excellence in Communication.

The College of Development Communication (CDC) is the ninth college established under the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

A CDC Backgrounder

1954: It started as the Office of Extension and Publications under the then UP College of Agriculture (UPCA)

1962: This was elevated into the Department of Agricultural Information and Communication (DAIC), having offered the first communication course in the country in 1960 under the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture curriculum.
