UP's Los Baños campus is the place to be for nature lovers, mountaineers, triathletes, photography enthusiasts, poets, artists and writers, extreme sports and adrenaline junkies.
If you happen to be at the DL Umali Freedom Park during weekday afternoons and even on weekends, you will find throngs of people doing all sorts of sports activities. There groups playing football, ultimate frisbee, softball and many more.
UPLB is home to much-sought after sports clinics in soccer and baseball. We are home, in fact to the Laguna Football School and the PHILAB Baseball and Softball clinics.
Baker Hall, the former gym of the university, have volleyball, badminton and basketball courts. It also has a swimming pool and dance studios.
During summer, the Department of Human Kinetics conduct clinics and leisure programs for the youth and even the not-so young. There are periodic fun runs that stretch from 5 to 32 kilometers and triathlons for the serious athletes.
The EB Copeland Gymnasium, our new spacious sports center, is a hub of student physical activity.
Meanwhile, the legendary Mt. Makiling, one of the most, if not the most famous mountains in Luzon, has inspired a number of poets, writers and lyricists for a long time.
It is a perfect hiking destination for casual hikers and weekend warriors. The place has picnic grounds facilities and campsite, where one can camp and enjoy nature.
Exploring Makiling Forest Reserve is such a gratifying experience, making you feel assured that your future generation will still see trees and other precious flora and fauna.
The Makiling Botanic Gardens is a protected sanctuary for flora and fauna, located at the northeastern slope of Mt. Makiling. It is pet-friendly, too, so you can bring your dogs for a walk.
Photo enthusiasts will enjoy practicing their macros and wide-angle shots. Health buffs will enjoy jogging around the area and climbing the stairs to the Center for Philippine Raptors.
Lovers will feel romantic sitting on the benches near the giant trees or the rocks near the Molawin creek. Bird watchers will marvel at the different sounds of bird calls. Nature lovers will revel at the atmosphere of chirping birds, croaking frogs, and the chorus of cicadas.
Mountain bikers and adrenaline junkies will get their fix in Mud spring trail and the perilous Rock garden trail in Brgy. Putho and Tuntungin.
Los Baños has a considerable number of hot spring resorts that you will enjoy. Local and tourists from other parts of the Philippines and other countries come here on weekend or for summer getaways.
