The following are some of the events that took place in celebration of the UP Centennial:

89th UPLB Loyalty Day and Alumni Homecoming

History recalls October 10, 1918 when our forefathers meant loyalty for freedom and democracy. That day, the former UP College of Agriculture, from the dean down to the last lowly laborer, volunteered en masse to the Philippine National Guard to defend the country against aggressors. Thereafter, the University devoted the month of October for the commemoration of this valor. Flocks of UPLB students, faculty, staff and alumni gather to reside in the customary spirit of Loyalty Day.

As time unfolds, this tradition evolved to being the UPLB Loyalty Day and Alumni Homecoming. This fortitude beckons alumni from all over the world to come home and rekindle ties with their Alma Mater.

October 10, 2007 marked another historical episode for UPLB as it launched the Centennial Celebration right in the heart of the campus. The traditional foot parade was joined by university personnel, students and alumni. This was followed by the unveiling of the Centennial Seal which signified the start of UPLB?s celebration of the UP Centennial. Immediately after, performances of the competing contingents took place. Three titles were awarded: Most Symbolic to the College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology; Most Creative to the College of Development Communication; and Most Colorful to the Barangay Mayondon, Los Baños Municipality contingent. The program was concluded with the Silent Drill of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), led by Major Leopoldo Maligalig.

As UPLB celebrates its 100 years of distinctive excellence, The 89th Loyalty Day and Alumni Homecoming invited everyone, especially all alumni, to take part in this milestone.

LONG LIVE UPLB!
