Sen. Zubiri donates P15M for CEM wonder building
UPLB will soon have its first ever building with a solar panel and rain water collector system. The proposed Rural Economic Development and Renewable Energy Center (REDREC) of CEM will be a first of its kind in Laguna.
In a meeting with Chancellor Velasco on May 22, Dean Liborio Cabanilla of CEM, Dean Victor Ella of CEAT, Dean Candida Adalla of CA and Dr. Cecilio Arboleda of UPLBFI, Sen. Zubiri showed the perspective (see picture) of the building he plans to donate out of his PDAF. Together with an architect, Sen. Zubiri visited the ACCI building which will be renovated to give way to the two-storey REDREC building.
19.09 Musicfest
September 27, 2007 marked another historical event for UPLB. The UPLB 19.09 Music Fest was held to hail the official UPLB Centennial theme song.
"Isang Daan", the song composed and written by Marie Angelica Dayao, a senior BA Communication Arts student, victored over seven finalists.
Among the judges were UP Regent Nelia T. Gonzalez; Prof. Victor E.L. Flor, resident dance professor of the Philippine High School for the Arts; Dr. Florendo Quebral, retired professor of the College of Agriculture; Prof. Emmanuel Florido, choir conductor; Ms. Zsaris Mendioro, a UPLB student; and Ms. Rachelle Ann Go, artist and UP Open University student.
89th UPLB Loyalty Day and Alumni Homecoming
History recalls October 10, 1918 when our forefathers meant loyalty for freedom and democracy. That day, the former UP College of Agriculture, from the dean down to the last lowly laborer, volunteered en masse to the Philippine National Guard to defend the country against aggressors. Thereafter, the University devoted the month of October for the commemoration of this valor. Flocks of UPLB students, faculty, staff and alumni gather to reside in the customary spirit of Loyalty Day.

Continuing Education and Training Program
SESAM continues to offer training and continuing education programs to different clients. For example, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) procedure in the Philippines and elsewhere has been continuously changing to respond to new emerging knowledge, problems, issues and information. Hence, there is a need to update our environmental professionals and we are in the best position to do so. The School is also poised to offer new training programs to respond to new issues brought about by growing appreciation of the industry -environment linkage, animal and environment interaction, and emerging environmental issues such as climate change and its impacts.
Research, Development and Extension Program
To complement the academic programs, the School is poised to be an active environmental research institution of the university. It optimizes the presence of a substantial number of graduate students in Environmental Science by making the graduate research program and thrust anchored on the research thrusts of the School. SESAM sought the cooperation of environmental scientists of the university in the conduct of research to advance understanding and generate scientific information about environmental issues.
